In pursuing this venture, EduReach (Pty)Ltd. makes use of the infrastructure of the Interactive Telematic Education (ITE) initiative of the University of Stellenbosch . The University has been using this technology for its geographically dispersed student population.
Interactive Telematic Training uses the latest satellite technology to bring live, interactive training from one base venue to various remote venues in South Africa and abroad. The areas include Pretoria, Nelspruit, Middelburg, Klerksdorp, Polokwane, Bellville, George, Stellenbosch, Johannesburg, Worcester, Durban, Kimberly, Upington, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein
How does it work?
The presenter gives a presentation, real time, from a studio situated in Stellenbosch or Pretoria. The presentation is beamed live to TV monitors at various remote venues simultaneously. A person can participate live by putting questions to the presenter via phone through a facilitator. Other attendees can listen in on the questions and interact with both the presenter and attendees at other venues. In short, it is as if every attendee is present in the studio with the presenter.
